• Be more supportive

I’m new to this gig. Like 4-5months. I started late in the game due to some circumstances I couldn’t control but regardless I’m here to stay. I talked to quite a few drivers that been doing the 8 plus years and they say it was better years ago. That might be true but times change and technology changes. 1 quick thought is by 2030 robo taxi will be a real threat to extra money for us Uber drivers but that’s still a ways off. So instead of always scaring people off and telling them not to drive so there’s hopefully one less driver on the road isn’t going to help. Striking won’t help either people have bills to pay. Can’t we be just a little more supportive to people. You can complain about stuff all day but unless you are working towards a solution you’re wasting time worrying or complaining instead of being proactive. Like solutions toward a strike why not just have everyone cherry pick all day one day so these so called non-profitable trips will go unaccepted and go up in price to other ways to make cash. It’s suspicious when you hear don’t drive it’s not worth it coming from someone who still drives everyday. That’s just scaring away competition. More people are gonna be driving with Uber and Lyft every year just as more people will need rides every year. That’s not gonna change. Just got to adapt to “changes”. I wish they had these challenges still. I would do them. This is a 2nd job but the best one I ever had cause I can work as much or as little as I want. By itself it is hard but seems just all about making your own algorithm to suit your schedule and busy areas with surges and whatever. I don’t know everything and might not be as experienced but I like to work and I like making money. I joined on hear to learn from people with experience. That’s not always helpful but either way it can help once I weed through bullshit and opinions. Try to be more open sometimes than to be quick to shoot down questions or ideas. I don’t quit. It’s not in me to do so I just work harder finding a solution to my problems. I’m sure I will get some opinions based on i haven’t done this long enough and I know nothing. Working somewhere for a long period doesn’t necessarily make you an expert. You might have more experience in the field but maybe not the best strategy. Just saying even if you don’t like something say hey that might not work like that but if you do this. Constructive criticism is always good. That’s just my thoughts.

I’m the last guy to be the Grammar Police but you might want to try paragraphs. It makes it allot easier to read.

If ur just joining Uber in 2024 when 2013 – 2015 were the best years, I wish u the best. A horse gotta drink its own water..With the 81 mile trip you made for $105. That’s really a $75 trip Uber paid.. $30 tip you were lucky. How about gas, tolls, wear and tear is that calculated?

Drivers say not to join because it’s a trap if you do only rideshare. If this is a 2nd job or side hustle then cool it’s not your main source of income, don’t have any real expectations and you should be fine. You won’t feel as shafted as someone who does this 9-5 and has expectations everyday.

I started in 2013 and I stopped during the pandemic though most of my friends were done by 2016.. I stuck around and made enough to buy a house, so you won’t see me complain much, but I was lucky. Very lucky to start when it started in NYC and I rode that wave all the way to the “jab apocalypse”

Good luck and be safe out there
