Customer claimed they did not receive order, yet I handed it to him at the door and was not paid for this delivery.
I have only been on uber for a few days, doing Uber Eats. I don’t mind the driving and have recieved many good tips that were higher than what I was expecting when I took the order. Took a batch order for the first time. One restaurant, two separate customers. Delivered to the first one in an apt complex and handed it over to him at the door. Second one was a drop off and I took a picture.
Well, the first customer then claimed that he never recieved the food. I don’t see it in my pay either. So apparently Uber believes the customer and didn’t even try to contact me about it? Does Uber really think I would take food to the customers location , eat it and then go on to the next location? Uber can see in the GPS that I had stopped at the customers location so they know I was there. I received an email saying I was deactivated from Uber Eats but could still drive taking passengers which I have no interest in doing. Called Uber support and was told it’s a glitch and a lot of emails like this went out and I should disregard it. However, I didn’t get paid for the first order of that batch order so the glitch story isn’t correct. Had it been a glitch, I would have recieved pay for that first order in the batch.
I was reading through the forum and see a lot of similar posts. So, should I ask the customer to stop and let me take a picture when I meet them at the door? Do I need a dash cam to show Uber that I really did meet with the customer at the door? Drop off’s are easier I am assuming as I do have to take a picture but I don’t retain that pic, Uber does. I hope they do. Maybe I do need that Dash Cam and to take my own pictures of deliveries that are drop off’s just in case a customer says I didn’t deliver. Do mistakes happen? Could I go to the wrong house? Yes, it’s possible but this isn’t the case this time. I checked the address twice on that first order, even as I was driving away. I had the apartment number correct, the building number and letter correct and I can describe the customer.
I don’t like not knowing where I am going before accepting the order. The app gives me an idea of the area, but not the exact address. I definitely don’t want to ever deliver to that customer again and have this same issue, but have no way to make that happen in the app. Suggestions..I am really new at this.
I was thinking about this more and more and why doesn’t Uber have the customer sign off on the delivery if it’s not delivered with a photo. At least there will be a signature that you delivered it to SOMEONE…and didn’t eat it. Yes, people do make mistakes and deliver to the wrong address , it can happen. Didn’t happen in this instance but it can happen
