• Do you send a “thanks” to pax who “only” tip $1?

I send a thanks to any tipper, even the “just $1” tippers, whether a short or long ride. Especially if it was a surge price.

Do some or most here feel $1 is an insult, even for just a short hop down the street?

Or maybe even a $2-$3 tip on an airport trip, even if quick, is offensive, as “those” types of pax, who have money to fly, should tip more?

I’ve read here that some are insulted when a driver doesn’t send thanks for their tip…so it seems some drivers indeed never or sometimes don’t send a thanks? Hard to believe.

Of course, tipping of any amount should be encouraged.

There are cases though, like a large delivery, that a small tip for a lot of extra work may be inappropriate.

The secret to this is try to use body language and short words to express dissatisfaction without being mad or critical, try to encourage the customer to part with a little more.

“Just to let you know, with your tip and what I get from Uber, I’ve only made $3 an hour for this…”

    Tact.
