EV drivers beware. Uber is improving things for you.
Danger Wil Robinson. Uber is planning to only send ride requests to EV drivers who have enough remaining charge on the car?
That of course begs the question, “How in holy heck is Uber going to have a clue as to how much charge is left on the car?“
Answer: They can’t. I don’t see how they can accurately know the % of charge. All they will know is the potential range of the car based on the make and model, ands how many miles the car has traveled since start of shift. The will certainly not know what the actual state of charge is when you start your day, nor when you stop to charge during your shift.
So the real question is, since all an EV driver has to do is decline a trip request they don’t want, for any number of reasons, including insufficient charge, what is the real reason Uber is implementing the policy? Inquiring minds want to know….
