Is anyone else experiencing an unusual spate of non-tippers and/or tips that come in way late on Lyft?
For the past 2 or 3 weeks, I have been going on some very unusually long streaks of no tips, this despite driving 5.0 passengers almost exclusively, lots of reservations, Comfort Rides, Lyft Black rides, and airport trips. When in this business, you sort of get a feel for who is going to tip or not based on how the ride and conversation went, but it seems like something has suddenly changed in that regard. I’m talking like nights of no tips at all, exclusively on list, for sometimes 12+ rides at a time. No issues like this on Uber.
And though I know it is prone to happen, but I have had at least six people tell me over the past couple of weeks that “I am going to tip you in the app or I HAVE tipped you in the app,” and again, this is one of those things you can get a feel for as far as who is being legitimate or not when claiming this, and either nothing comes through, or it comes through many hours later, sometimes overnight, even though I know they did it right away.
I probably have had more of those “I tipped you in the app” statements from passengers that never came through in the past couple of weeks than I have had in all my time doing this combined though. It’s very outside the norm and a wild swing from previous data.
Anyone else seeing something odd like this that falls out of line with their previous experiences?
