Need to be paid FAR more for wait times
Uber and Lyft should be charging a LOT more for wait times, and of course paying drivers a lot more for wait times. I think riders would be willing to pay for it, so this is a big missed opportunity (for them AND for us).
Like a lot of drivers, I never accept multi-stop rides, and I never want riders to add a stop. When riders add a stop anyway, I get angry and the rides become awkward. But if we were adequately PAID for these stops, I am sure that most if not all of us would gladly accept multi-stop rides, as well as stops being added to rides.
How much? I think $1 a minute. Most of the riders I cart around would gladly pay that for me to wait while they get their cigs or liquor or whatever, and I would gladly wait at that rate. Everyone wins, everyone’s happy.
Furthermore, I think that at pickup, after 2 minutes, it should go to $1 per minute for waiting. Again, I would no longer be angry when riders take their time getting to the car, so the rides would be nicer all the way around.
Finally, Uber really needs to stop this thing they do where the first 2 minutes are completely free. It is truly a terrible insult to their drivers. If they want to do that for riders, it should come out of THEIR pockets, not ours.
