• Phone call scam and evolve bank

I had gotten a call from a scammer pretending to be Uber awhile back. Is this how they got my info to call me? I have the Uber bank card and since I haven’t had anymore calls like this was wondering if this was how they get my info or is there another way these scammers get my info? Just random trip request they set up and I just happened to accept or? Anyone have any info? I do think Uber should notify us of old, new, and evolving scams that we should be aware of. I work too hard to give away money?

The only scam I’ve been targeted with is the one where they make a ride request (and as you know riders have the driver’s name and car info) then immediately try calling through the rider app to get you to cancel the ride because it was a test by Uber Support for some fake reason, they then “verify” that they’re “Support” by giving you the info they got from the rider app, and then ask you for your personal phone# (supposedly to verify it’s really you), etc… all of this to somehow gain access to your Rideshare driver account and steal your earnings. Do NOT give out personal info. Uber / Lyft will not contact you this way.

Yes, scammer requests a ride. You accept it. They have your name, car info, and your license plate number.
Uber is constantly warning of us of scams. TRUST NO ONE and your money will be safe. If you’re communicating with someone that you do not personally know, assume that they’re after your money.
