Launch of CATS rideshare right around the corner
CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — If popular rideshares are too pricey for your pocketbook and conventional public transportation isn’t your cup of tea, a new service may strike your fancy.
It’s a low-cost option to get you where you need to go when you want to go and a heck of a lot more private than riding the bus or light rail.
Starting Monday, Feb. 24, the Charlotte Area Transit System is jumping on board the ride-share bandwagon offering customers a service of its own, catering to the northern Mecklenburg County area. It’s the CATS Micro, an on-demand microtransit service. CATS officials describe it as convenient, easy to use, and a great way to get places where other methods of CATS transport may not directly run.

CATS announces debut of new microtransit service
It uses CATS Micro branded vehicles that operate point-to-point in a designated area. For now, serving areas north of I-485, including Huntersville, Davidson, and Cornelius.
If you see one of the marked vehicles out and about, don’t hail it like a taxi cab from the curb- you have to reserve a ride on its designated app.
You can access service when needed, just like Uber or Lift, but for a lot less dough.
