Rideshare driver assaulted, robbed on Christmas Day

A TT Ride Share driver was robbed in Santa Cruz on Christmas Day.

The 35-year-old man told police that at 6:30pm he made his way to La Sagesse Road in his Kia Cerato after receiving a request for a ride.

Upon arrival, he said, the customer cancelled the request.

Before he could leave, two men approached the victim’s car.

One of the suspects was reportedly holding a firearm.

The victim was ordered out of the vehicle, and the two men entered the car and drove off.

The police were notified and officers of the Santa Cruz police station responded.

At the time, the officers, with the aid of TT Ride Share personnel, were able to trace the victim’s phone which was in the car when it was taken.

The victim’s phone was tracked and recovered along Major Drive in Santa Cruz.

The vehicle was not located.
